Global stock indexes fell after a report showed US consumer sentiment fell to a 6-month low in May; negative investor sentiment towards the US government's negotiations to raise the public debt ceiling; CPI inflation in the US 4.9% was lower than expected at 5%.

The Vietnamese market had a rather positive trading week with the VNINDEX increasing by 2.56% to reach 1,066.9, the highest level of the week; Foreign investors net bought more than 120 billion VND. VNSmallcap was the highlight of the week with many stocks gaining strongly at the beginning of the week and cooling down due to the pressure of profit taking T+.
