Morning call - Indexes are surging, but it's too early to get excited

Summary

In regular trading on Monday, the Dow rose 0.67%, the S&P 500 gained 0.87% and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.11%. Both S&P 500 and Nasdaq broke a six-day losing streak. Investors were also encouraged by easing tensions in the Middle East and looked ahead to a busy week filled with corporate earnings reports and important economic data.

 

VNINDEX closed at 1,190.22 (+15.37 points, +1.31%) with liquidity down 60% from the previous session. The market had 374 gainers and 114 losers. The group of stocks that contributed to the market's decline included VIC, MBB, and PGV. On the other hand, the group of stocks that contributed to the market's gain included BID, CTG, and SSI. Foreigners were net sellers of about 240 billion dong
