Morning call - Market slowdown
07/02/2024

Summary

In regular trading on Tuesday, the Dow rose 0.37%, the S&P 500 gained 0.23% and the Nasdaq Composite inched up 0.07%, with nine out of the 11 S&P sectors ending higher led by materials, real estate and healthcare. Those moves came as robust corporate earnings lifted investor sentiment and as traders shrugged off the Federal Reserve’s pushback on interest rate cuts.

VNINDEX closed at 1,188 (+2.42 points, +0.2%) with liquidity decreasing compared to the previous session. The market had 244 green stocks and 212 red stocks. The stocks that contributed to the market's uptrend were CTG, DGC, and GAS. On the other hand, the stocks that contributed to the market's downtrend were VCB, VHM, and VNM. Most sectors saw relatively good growth, with the oil and gas sector growing better than other sectors.
