In regular trading on Tuesday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite lost 0.2% and 0.33%, respectively, ending their eight-day winning streak. The Dow also shed 0.15% for its first negative session in six. Markets also look forward to Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole symposium on Friday for clues on whether the central bank will cut rates by 25 or 50 basis points in September.

The VNINDEX closed at 1,272 points (+10.93 points, +0.87%) with higher-than-average trading volume over the past 20 sessions. The market saw 136 decliners and 264 gainers. Stocks contributing to the market's uptrend included VCB, BID, and VHM, while PLX, VNM, and LPB weighed on the index. The real estate sector saw strong gains. Foreign investors were net buyers of over 330 billion dong.
