07/08/2024

Summary

In regular trading on Tuesday, the Dow rose 0.76%, the S&P 500 gained 1.04% and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.03%, with all 11 S&P sectors finishing higher. Those moves followed a sharp selloff on Monday fueled by US recession fears and the unwinding of the yen carry trade.

VNINDEX closed at 1,210 points (+22.21 points, +1.87%) with trading volume at the 20-day average. The market saw 58 decliners and 383 gainers. Stocks contributing to the market's uptrend included VNM, GVR, and MSN, while VGC, TMS, and QCG weighed on the market. All sectors recovered, with the consumer goods sector seeing the strongest gains. Foreign investors were net sell of about 730 billion dong.
