In regular trading on Thursday, the Dow gained 0.85%, the S&P 500 climbed 0.51% and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.27%. Ten out of the 11 S&P sectors ended higher, led by real estate, utilities and energy. Those moves came as the latest weekly jobless claims rose more than expected, reinforcing bets for Federal Reserve interest rate cuts this year.

VNINDEX closed at 1,248.64 points (-1.82 points, -0.15%) with slightly lower liquidity compared to the previous session. The market had 201 gainers and 241 losers. The groups of stocks that contributed to the market's decline were GAS, VCB, and VNM. On the other hand, the groups of stocks that contributed to the market's increase were BCM, HVN, and CTG. Foreigners net sold around VND 1,706 billion.
