Morning call - Selling pressure from the banking sector

The S&P 500 lost 0.2%, the Dow Jones fell 240 points pulling back from its historic 40,000 level. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq added 0.1%.  In addition to the stronger-than-expected Manufacturing PMI, which indicated the first expansion in the manufacturing sector in 18 months, investors were awaiting more data this week, including the jobs report, JOLTS, and the ISM Services PMI, for further insights into the economy's health.

VNINDEX closed at 1,281.52 (-2.57 points, -2.88%) with relatively low liquidity. The market had 144 green stocks and 327 red stocks. The stocks that contributed to the market's increase were HVN, VCB, and GAS. On the other hand, the stocks that contributed to the market's decline were CTG, MBB, and VNM. The oil and gas and technology sectors performed well. Foreigners continued to net sell strongly, about 723 billion VND.
