Morning call - Profit-taking pressure continues

Summary

US Stocks closed mixed on Monday, as the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.1% and 0.4%, respectively, marking their second consecutive negative sessions while the Dow Jones ended 47 points higher. The previous week's rally that pushed the major averages to record highs cooled off, and a cautious mood prevailed ahead of the US CPI report due tomorrow. The upcoming CPI report and the PPI later in the week are among the last major economic reports expected before the Federal Reserve's March policy meeting

 

Technical view:

VNINDEX closed at 1,235.49 (-11.8 points, -0.95%) with liquidity maintained at a level higher than the average of 20 sessions. The market had 106 green stocks and 392 red stocks. The group of stocks contributing to the market's increase included GVR FRT PNJ. On the other hand, the group of stocks contributing to the market's decline were VCB GAS VPB. Most sectors declined, the strongest being insurance and oil and gas; However, the telecommunications group had an impressive 5.6% increase in today's session. Foreign investors returned to net buy slightly about 248 billion VND.
