Morning call - Make an effort to rise
04/03/2024

Summary

On Friday, the Dow rose 0.23%, the S&P 500 added 0.8% and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.15%, with all three benchmark indexes scaling all-time highs. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also posted their seventh weekly gain in eight. Those moves came as strong corporate earnings and excitement over artificial intelligence supported the market, while investors continued to bet that the Federal Reserve will pivot to interest rate cuts this year. Markets now look ahead to Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s appearance before the Congress this week for clues on the monetary policy path. Investors also look forward to key jobs data and manufacturing figures this week.

VNINDEX closed at 1,258.28 (5.55 points, +0.44%) with liquidity maintained at a level higher than the 20-session average. The market has 293 green tickers and 182 red tickers. Stock groups contributing to the market's increase include BID, VHM and FPT. On the contrary, the groups of stocks contributing to the market's decline were VPB, TCB and VNM. Foreign investors actively net bought with a total value of VND 198 billion.
