Morning call - Green on the shell, red on the inside
20/02/2024

Summary

US stock futures were little changed on Tuesday as the market returns from a holiday-extended weekend, while investors look ahead to earnings reports from big retail companies. Last week, the Dow shed 0.11%, the S&P 500 lost 0.42% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.34%. Those moves came as hotter-than-expected US inflation data further dented sentiment around early and deep interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve this year.

VNINDEX closed at 1,224.9 (+15.27 points, +1.26%) with increased liquidity compared to the previous session, higher than the average of 30 sessions. The market had 298 green stocks and 217 red stocks. The group of stocks contributing to the market's increase were VHM, VIC and GAS. On the contrary, the group of stocks contributing to the market's decline were LGC LPB and PNJ. The market had a relatively strong increase in most sectors, of which the oil and gas and real estate groups had the strongest increase. Foreign investors net bought strongly in today's session.
