Morning call - Good market breadth


US stocks were mixed on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 down 0.06% and the Nasdaq declined 0.76% while the Dow Jones added 133 points. The JOLTS report showed an unexpected rise in job openings to 9 million, cutting bets for a 25bps rate cut by the Fed in March. The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note cut early losses to trade around 4.09% after the JOLTS report showed an unexpected rise in job openings to 9 million while the CB consumer confidence hit the highest level since the end of 2021.


VNINDEX closed at 1,179.65 (3.96 points, +0.34%) with relatively good liquidity. The market had 266 green stocks and 174 red stocks. The stocks that contributed the most to the market's increase were BCM GVR and HDB. On the other hand, the stocks that contributed to the market's decline were BID VCB SAB. Most sectors increased, the strongest being the industrial goods and services, retail and chemicals sectors. Foreign investors maintained good net buying.
