The Dow Jones closed 115 points lower on Friday, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq finished mostly muted, as investors weighed the first batch of corporate quarterly results and softer-than-expected PPI data. Producer prices in the US unexpectedly declined 0.1% month-over-month in December 2023, the same as in November, and compared to forecasts of a 0.1% rise.

VNINDEX closed 1,154.7 (-7.52 points, -0.65%) with liquidity continuing to increase. The market has 132 green codes and 380 red codes. The group of stocks contributing the most to the market's increase is MBB CTG ACB TCB. On the contrary, the groups of stocks contributing to the market's decline were VCB and GVR. Most industry groups decreased, but the banking group maintained its upward momentum over the past 2 weeks.
