In regular trading on Tuesday, the Dow inched up 0.04%, helped by index heavyweights such as Chevron (1.3%), Coca-Cola Co (1.2%), American Express (1.1%), Nike (1%) and IBM (0.8%). Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite shed 0.01% and 0.25%, respectively, weighed down by surging Treasury yields as stronger-than-expected US retail sales data bolstered the higher-for-longer view on interest rates.

VNINDEX closed at 1,121.65 (-19.77 points, -1.73%) with liquidity at the same level as the previous session. The market suddenly reversed at the end of the session with 378 tickers drop. On the contrary, foreign investors suddenly switched to net buying in the ATC session from a net selling of VND 176 billion to a net buying of VND 21 billion.
